●「竹の焼畑2017」は、人が見向きしなくなることで荒廃してしまった山林を切り開き、究極の循環農法である焼畑によって、再生させようという活動です。人口減少下の中山間地の環境保全・国土保全のための手法開発の実験でもあります。
●今年で３年めとなる取組は、島根大学の学生グループである里山管理研究会、奥出雲の団体である奥出雲山村塾、森と畑と牛と、の３者を中心とする、複数の団体や研究グループが共同する事業です。メンバーは県外からの参加者や歴史や生態学の研究者などバラエティにとみ刺激的です。

●We are recruiting volunteers for slash-and-burn activity in Sajiro,Okuizumo town.
Outdoor activities are the majority, but desk work and research activities are also available, so please contact us. Activities are carried out appropriately among the following items.

◉ Activities
1. Maintenance of devastating bamboo groves …… It is logging, transporting and bamboo making of bamboo. Various for reborn into a pleasant bamboo forest.
2. Crude deforestation …. Although it is a cut down for the slash-and-burn field, the aim is the open-air museum. In the 10-year cycle, nature surrounds and we will create a “valley” filled with diversity that winds, insects, birds, cows, people and water cooperate with.
3. Preparation of the slash-and-burn field …… Maintenance of “NOYAMA” to burn this year. Burning material lying down (adds bamboo and tree branches etc.) and making firebands.
4. Burning … … Spark the fire on the materials loaded on the mountain and spread it. In 2017 I plan to go once in spring and twice in summer. We also accept visits and surveys.
5. Crop cultivation … to watch over rather than nourish. The slash-and-burn field basically does not do ridges nor do anything. Putting out the grass, making a fence that does not allow cows to enter the field, thinning out.
6. Reap … … Because it is an experimental activity, it is cultivation of many kinds and many items. We will cultivate cereals and vegetables so we can adjust threshing selection after harvesting and trial manufacture of dishes.
7. Survey of listening to the elderly as a regional food culture survey.

◉Meeting place&Time
It is approximately 9:30 gathering on a Damu no mieru bokujou (529-1,sajiro,Okuizumo-cho, Shimane prefecture ,Japan). We will work till around 15:30 taking a break several times.

◉Entry fee
About 500 yen as cost of foodstuff and document charges.

◉What to bring, clothing
・Bread and drinks prepared by yourself, We will prepare ingredients to cook at the party here.
・Water bottle for refilling water, bottle drink, etc.
・Long-sleeved clothes and bandana covered hair and towels etc.
・Shoes and boots that are hard to slip on the slope and are easy to walk.
・Work gloves
